Mrs. Ada Katherine Mcguire

December 9, 1922 — January 25, 2014

Mrs. Ada Katherine McGuire, age 91, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. McGuire was born in Lafayette, Georgia on December 9, 1922, daughter of the late Jim Thompson and Maggie Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dry Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. McGuire was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Lester Croy, Sr; second husband, Milton McGuire; children, Ray Lane Croy, Otis Croy, Richard Croy, Allen Lester Croy, Jr., Harlon Croy and Rosa Crider; sisters, Audrey Weaver, Syble Williams, Mable Kirby, and Pauline Coulter; and brothers, Odel Thompson, Johnny Thompson, and Melvin Thompson. Mrs. McGuire is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Hershel and Glenda Croy, Jimmy and Janice Croy and Robert and Dianne Croy, Tommy McGuire and Billy McGuire; daughter and son-in-law, Ethel and Ted DeBerry; daughter and help mate, Barbara Goss and Ralph Stansell; brother, Fred Thompson; sister, Ailene Wooten; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. McGuire will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Pettyjohn officiating. Interment will follow in the Subligna Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austyn Gentry, Matthew McHugh, Hunter Gentry, Eddie Gentry, Johnny Gentry and Zack Curtis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ted DeBerry, Tim Wilson, and Ralph Stansell. Mrs. McGuire will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
