Alton Jerry Jordan

January 11, 1942 — September 2, 2024

Blue Ridge

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Alton Jerry Jordan, 82, who tragically left this world on September 2, 2024, while doing what he loved. Jerry was a man of quiet strength, boundless kindness, and a gentle spirit who touched the lives of many.

Born on January 11, 1942, in Dade City, Florida, Jerry grew up with a strong sense of family and community. In high school, he was an enthusiastic member of the swim and dive team, where he developed his lifelong love of the water.  Jerry went on to study at Broward College, furthering his knowledge and skills that would serve him well in his career.  Jerry built a fulfilling career as the Chief Electrician with Florida Power and Light, where he was admired for his dedication and expertise. His leadership was also evident as he served as President of the Union, passionately advocating for his colleagues and their rights. Jerry’s commitment to fairness and justice made a lasting impact on the lives of many in his workplace. After retiring early, Jerry and his beloved wife Maggie moved to Blue Ridge, Georgia. Jerry was a man of faith and became a devoted member of St. Antho ny's Catholic Church, where he served in the Knights of Columbus. He also had a deep passion for hunting, which brought him much joy.  Following Maggie’s passing, Jerry found love again and remarried Margaret Jo Maynard. They shared 8 years of marriage before his passing. Jerry is survived by his wife Margaret Jo, his children Audrey Sheppard, Angela Baumgartner, and Troy Jordan, as well as his grandchildren Brittany Manous (and her husband Avery), Marlee Tucker, Logan Baumgartner, and AJ Jordan, and great-grandchildren Aspen and Jace. He is also survived by his sisters Linda Dees and Pat Dempsey.

A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus, Blue Ridge, Georgia, in his honor.

Alton Jerry Jordan’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, faith, leadership, and generosity. He will be

deeply missed but never forgotten.
