Mrs. Barbara Jean Hartbarger Edwards

Mrs. Barbara Jean Hartbarger Edwards, age 65 of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Columbia, South Carolina on February 8, 1955, daughter of the late Bobby Clifford Gentry and Frances Nell Lloyd Gentry.  She was a member of the Gaylesville First Baptist Church and prior to retirement was employed with Mohawk Industries.  She loved to sing, sew, draw, doing crafts and planning activities.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her first husband, David Hartbarger; father-in-law and mother-in-law that took her in as a daughter, Essel and Lois Hartbarger; brother, Valter Hartbarger and a sister, Beverly Perez.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 45 years, Rickey Edwards; son, David Eugene Hartbarger; daughter, January Dyann Gable; chosen children, Chasity Ann Perez and Bobbie Ballew; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Smith and Betty Jo and Jeffery Edge; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jeanette Gentry; grandchildren, Malerie and Dee Colbert, Gunnar Gable, Miranda Gable, Ryder Hamilton, Haydon Roberts and Talon Ballew; great grandchildren, Aubree Colbert, Baylee Colbert, Landyn Colbert and Merek Colbert; Grandparents JoAnn and Richard Morgan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Edwards will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 4:00 P.M.(EST) in the Gaylesville First Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Nixon and Rev. Steve Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens.  Please be advised that a mandatory mask order is in place in the State of Alabama and all attendees are required to wear a mask.

Pallbearers will be Dee Colbert, Jerry Ballew, Gunnar Gable, Chris Gentry, Steve Goodridge, Dale Lawson and Jeffrey Edge, Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Neil Shropshire, Oland Summerall, Andrew Edwards, Steven Edwards, Mike Edwards, Tim Edwards and James Edwards.

Mrs. Edwards will lie in state at the Gaylesville First Baptist Church where the family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
