Mrs. Barnett "Gran" Brimer

Mrs. Lanora Barnett "Gran" Brimer, age 97, of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Brimer was born in Lafayette, Georgia on April 27, 1917, daughter of the late Barney L. Hampton, Sr. and Lula Mitchell Hampton. She was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church and had more recently been attending the Trion United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brimer was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Brimer; daughter, Jan Young; brother, Barney L. Hampton, Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Landers, Esther Locklear, Louise Campbell and Nell Freeman. Mrs. Brimer is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Kay Brimer of Trion; sister, Jane Waters of Lafayette; grandchildren, Kayla and Matt Fortune of Summerville and Angie and Chris Ray of Armuchee; great grandchildren, Ashton Ray and Caroline Ray of Armuchee; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Brimer will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Art Graves, and Rev. Warren Moorehead officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Skip Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brimer's Nephews, Grandson and Great Grandson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ann Lanier, Betty Howard, Susan Broome, Faye Norman, Shirley Peace, Mary Maxwell, Margaret Henderson, Alicia Hamilton, Kathy Ray and the Staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Brimer will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. Flowers will be accepted, however those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Trion First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund or to the Trion United Methodist Church.
