Mrs. Bea Ellis

Mrs. Mae Beatrice "B.B." Ellis, age 95 of Summerville, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Ellis was born in Attalla, Alabama on December 17, 1921, daughter of the late Jonas Harris and Laura Bell Renfroe Harris. She loved to sing and in her earlier days, sang in many churches and several radio programs. Mrs. Ellis loved to sew and make quilts, and when she was able loved to travel. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Trion, and was retired from the Chattooga County Hospital where she was employed in the nursing department. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Stallings; second husband, Stan Ellis; son, Larry Stallings, an infant daughter; a brother, J.T. "Scatter" Harris; sisters, Inez Van Pelt, Helen Harris Purcell and Annie Young; and a special friend, Merl Rogers. Mrs. Ellis is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Wayne Tallent of Gaylesville; son and daughter-in-law. Jerry Wayne and Karen Stallings of Rome; Grandson, Barry and Lisa Tallent; great grandchildren, Taylor Tallent and Heather Tallent; great great grandchildren, Tayden "88" Tallent, Eli Tallent and Collin Luke Thomas; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellis will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson, Rev. Terry Shores and Bro. Ricky Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Tallent, Barry Tallent, Ricky Reynolds, Corey Thomas, Denny Strickland, and Donnie Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the New Bethel Baptist Church and the F-Hall nursing staff at Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Ellis will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
