Mr. Bobby Joe Smith

Mr. Bobby Joe Smith, age 76 of Rome, Georgia passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at a Rome area hospital.

Mr. Smith was born in Rome, Georgia on March 22, 1946, son of the late Henry Amos Smith and Annie Prince Smith.  He was an avid car enthusiast, and enjoyed doing anything that had to do with cars, whether it be cleaning them, working on them, or watching races.  Mr. Smith also enjoyed playing the guitar.  He was a retired Automobile Detailer, having worked for himself and in later years, Wayne Blackwood.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, James Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Carey Smith Cothran and Crystal Smith Purdy; brother, Marshall Smith; 5 grandchildren, Adam Hogue, Haley Dyer, Kristen Smith, Dalton Ely and Devon Ely; 8 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Lee officiating.  Interment will be at 3:00 P.M. in the Floyd Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Smith, Joey Smith, Adam Hogue, Dalton Ely, Devon Ely and Dylan Hunter.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Smith will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
