Mrs. Brenda Gale Sumner, age 73 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away on May 13, 2025 at Floyd County Hospital following an illness.
Brenda was born in Trion, Georgia on January 24, 1952, daughter of the late Rounder Henderson Hall and Ruby Caldwell Hall. She was a member of the New Faith Tabernacle and was retired from Queen Carpet. Brenda enjoyed being a part of “The Pie Ladies”, she was an ordained minister, a phenomenal piano player and was part of the New Faith Singers traveling gospel group. Brenda was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother, Dennis Hall; sisters, Elizabeth Hall; Patricia Collins Smith; and grandson, Thomas Isaiah Smith.
Brenda is survived by her husband, James B. Sumner; daughter, Litha Darlene Smith; son, Edward “Eddie” Henderson Smith; brother, Ronnie Hall; step-son James “Jimbo” and Sheila Sumner; step-daughters Cindi & Tracy Mitchell; Lesa Moses; granddaughter, Victoria Gail Smith , several step grandsons and step great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 1pm until the funeral hour. Funeral Services for Brenda will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Pettit Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Hannah and Bro. Kenny Ash officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Eddie Smith, Ronnie Hall, Steven Craig, Lithia Smith, Tori Smith and Dylan Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaye Thompson- best friend, Paul Swords, Sally Hall, Cyndi Mitchell and Blake Strickland.
