Camellia Jane "Millie" (Hughes) Dowdy

Mrs. Camellia Jane “Millie” Hughes Dowdy, age 63 of Virginia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the residence of her sister in Rome.

Millie was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 17, 1960 daughter of the late Paul Franklin Hughes and Eleanor Rhudean Chambers Padgett.  She loved life and was an outgoing person, and her favorite activity was looking after her granddaughter.  In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Lively and a niece, Heather Hall.

Millie is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kia and Thomas Somma; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Amy Pursely; sister and brother-in-law, Joi and TC Alford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Amy Hughes and Mickey and Kristie Hughes; grandchildren, Makaylee Somma, Shana Pursley and JJ Pursley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Millie’s wishes, she will be cremated and there are no formal plans for a memorial service at this time.
