Mr. Charles Edward "Dink" Willingham, age 75 of the Mountain View Community, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Willingham was born in Trion, Georgia, on November 28, 1941, son of the late Charles Austin "Blue" Willingham and Marvine Carr Willingham. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving at the beginning of the Viet Nam War. Mr. Willingham was a life-long Georgia Tech Fan, an Avid Atlanta Falcons fan, and loved to fish. He was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired from the Packing Department of Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Willingham was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary Evelyn Elrod Willingham on December 7, 2010; and a brother, Billy Carlton "Bubba" Willingham. Mr. Willingham is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Regina Willingham, Sandy and Andrea Willingham, and Ryan and Abby Willingham; sisters, Lynda Carolyn Willingham Hunter and Lydia Marvine Willingham Robertson; 9 grandchildren, Richard Barrett, Kalen Willingham, Jordan Willingham, Alli Mainor, Max Mainor, Lilli Mainor, Kristian Willingham, Jarod Willingham, and Hagen Willingham; 4 great grandchildren, Haley Barrett, Paige Barrett, Creed Willingham, and Colston Mainor; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Willingham will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton and Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and should meet at the Coffman Funeral Home Thursday afternoon by 12:30 P.M.: Billy Willingham, Willie Johnson, Jr., Larry Wilson, Jamey Simmons, Michael Tinney and Tracy Trammell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Wilbanks, Cecil and Polly Parris, Billy and Lisa Stewart, James Matheney, Packing Department of Mt. Vernon Mills and all of his Charlie Company Army Buddies. Mr. Willingham will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence of his son, Steve Willingham on Halls Valley Drive.
