Mr. Clifford Franklin Pledger

Mr. Clifford Franklin Pledger, age 99 of the Pennville Community, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Pledger was born in Lyerly, Georgia on July 2, 1918, son of the late George Franklin Pledger and Lucy Ann Weaver Pledger. He was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church, a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army and was retired from the Weave Room at Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pledger was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude Pledger; second wife, Ethel Loggins Pledger; a son , Jimmy Pledger; brothers, Cicero Pledger, Carl Pledger, and Cecil Pledger; and sisters, Birmah Tallent and Nelle Martin. Mr. Pledger is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Ron and Linda Pledger; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Donna and Eddie Shireman; a grandson, Kevin Pledger and his wife, Michelle; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Pledger will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Pledger officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Pledger, Johnny Pledger, Gary Howell, Erron Yoder, John Stephens, Wayne Bryant, and Wilton Dykes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Leo Lanier and the members of Mr. Pledger's Sunday School Class. Mr. Pledger will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral hour.
