Mrs. Dorothelia "Dot: Scoggins

Mrs. Dorothelia Holcomb Scoggins, age 91 of the Subligna Community, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at Tranquility of Dalton following an extended illness.

Mrs. Scoggins was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 25, 1929, daughter of the late Zenas Holcomb and Ruby Mayoma Hawkins Holcomb.  She was a 1946 Graduate of the Gore High School, attended the Rome Beauty School, was a Mary Kay Consultant, was a member of the Subligna Baptist Church and was a retired hairdresser.  Mrs. Scoggins was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and mother-in-love.  She enjoyed making professional quality cakes for birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.  She also enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts and crocheting blankets.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scoggins was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harold W. Scoggins; and a brother, Gene Holcomb.

Mrs. Scoggins is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Scoggins, Eric and Gayla Scoggins and Mark and Robbin Scoggins; 6 grandchildren, Keith Scoggins, Julie Cook, Jordan Scoggins, Erica Miller, Kevin Scoggins and Kyle Scoggins; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine Holcomb Teems and her husband, Jerel; sisters-in-law, Frances Scoggins and Ina Plunkett Scoggins; 8 great grandchildren, Chase Scoggins, Jessica Scoggins, Zachary Miller, Alyssa Miller, Kayleigh Scoggins, Sawyer Scoggins, Reed Scoggins and Charlotte Scoggins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Scoggins will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Subligna Cemetery with Dr. Charles Bishop officiating.

There will be no formal visitation.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Subligna Baptist Church Building Fund or to the American Alzheimer's Association.
