George O'Neal Powell

Mr. George O'Neal Powell age 81 of Summerville, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Powell was born in Lafayette, Georgia on May 1, 1936, son of the late William Powell, Sr. and Minnie Lee Morton Powell. He attended the Solid Rock Baptist Church, loved to garden and work in the yard, and prior to retirement, was employed as a Caretaker at the Mt. Vernon Lodge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Price Powell; brother, William "Sonny" Price, Jr., step-son, Ray Price, Sr., and a granddaughter, Jerica London. Mr. Powell is survived by his children, Betsy Perry, Angelia Powell and Homer and Debra Price; sister-in-law, Ann Price; special friends, Steve Lanham and Rev. David Hayes; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a number nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Powell will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Hayes officiating. Interment will be in the Allgood Cemetery. Mr. Powell will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
