Mrs. Virginia Jo "Ginny" Hames Gunn, age 78 of Rossville, GA formerly of Summerville, GA passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Erlanger Medical Center. Mrs. Gunn was born in Chickamauga, GA on March 19, 1939, daughter of the late Fredrick Joseph Hames and Myrtle Ruth Smith Hames. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed for many years at Best Manufacturing. She was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chattooga Shrine Club and was "The Band Mom" at Trion High School. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gunn was preceded in death by her husband, Hughlon Eugene "Gene" Gunn; sisters, Linda Edwards, Elizabeth Gill and Jean Ponder; brothers, Herman Hames, Walter Allen Hames and Robert Hames; and a grandson, Rocky Trammell. Mrs. Gunn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jerri Gunn; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ronnie Mason; Sister, Sybil Langston; brother, James Richard Hames; grandchildren, Jason Elders, Kelsey Mason, Maggie Gunn, Rachel Gunn and Thaed Gunn; great grandchildren, Serenity Elders, Kaden Trammell and Brooke Dickson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Gunn will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 at 1:30 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Elders, Kelsey Mason, Maggie Gunn, Rachel Gunn, Thaed Gunn, Hubert Hulsey and David Elders. Mrs. Gunn will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 9 P.M.
