Gladys Inez Dempsey

Mrs. Gladys Inez Dempsey, age 90, formerly of Trion, Ga passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at Wood Dale Health and Rehabilitation in Dalton, GA  Mrs. Dempsey was born September 2, 1922 in Trion, GA.  She was retired from Riegel Textile Corporation where she worked in the Packing Department and was  Baptist by faith. Mrs. Dempsey was preceded in death by father and mother, George  Robert and Pluma Hawthorne Woods; sisters, Anice Payton, Myrtle Moncrief, and Eva Bell Jordan; and brothers, Bill Woods and Guy Wilson Woods. Mrs. Dempsey is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John and Jan Dempsey and William  R. and Diane Dempsey of Dalton, GA; grandson, Paul A. Dempsey of Dalton, GA and granddaughter, Cheryl Marfilius of Dallas, GA; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 2 p.m.  from the Chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Sidney Dooley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Gladys Inez Dempsey will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Pallbearers will family and friends.
