Greg Espy

Mr. James Gregory “Greg” Espy, age 59 of Summerville, passed away suddenly Monday, March 19, 2018.

Mr. Espy was born in Trion, Georgia on April 5, 1958, son of Doris Irene Gentry Bryan and the late Billy Frank. Mr. Espy was a member of Trion High School class of 1977. He was a veteran of the United States Army, being stationed in Korea. He enjoyed collecting all kinds of sport memorabilia especially Baseball Cards. He was an avid football fan and a played in the Textile Leagues baseball and softball teams. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Espy was employed at Mt. Vernon Mills. In addition to his father, Mr. Espy was preceded in death by sisters Vickie Brinkley and Marion Boyd.

Mr. Espy is survived by his mother, Doris Bryan; daughters and son-in-laws, Amy Espy Sneed (Jason), Alicia “Kris” Espy Smith (Tony), and Angel Johnson; sisters, Retha (Johnny) Blackmon, Rita (Bobby) Ledbetter and Sherri (Greg) Stoker; grandchildren, Merrick and Tayla Touchstone, Kadin Smith, Gracey Allmond, Prezleigh Baty, Brantley Smith and Heidi Sneed; special friends from THS Graduating class of ’77 and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Espy will be held Saturday March 24, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Smith, Jason Sneed, Chris Gentry, Carl Gentry, Danny Overbay, Steven Little, Josh Allmond and Jehrome Myrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Smith, Hayden Stoker, Jonathon Blackmon, Merrick Touchstone and Darty McGuire.

Mr. Espy will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family to help reimburse them for funeral expenses.
