Mr. Hobart Mckinley Stallings, Jr.

Mr. Hobart McKinley "Hobie" Stallings, Jr., age 87 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stallings was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on January 6, 1927, son of the late Hobart McKinley Stallings, Sr. and Laura Ellen Wheeling Stallings. He was a 1944 graduate of the Lyerly High School, member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church, and prior to retirement, was employed with Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills for nearly 48 years as a Pipe Fitter, retiring as a Foreman. Mr. Stallings was a veteran of World War II, serving in Company M, 34th Infantry Regiment in the United States Army, during the Occupation of Japan. He was an avid NASCAR fan, but his greatest hobby was being a proud Paw-Paw who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, being very supportive in all aspects of their lives. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stallings was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mae Murphy Stallings in 1995. Mr. Stallings is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Myra Stallings and Max Tucker of Trion; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Deneta Stallings of Armuchee; brothers, Jessie Lee "Jet" Stallings of Cedartown, Fred Stallings of Conroe, Texas and Billy Stallings of Lyerly; sisters, Ruth Kinsey of Summerville and Bessie May of Centre, AL; grandchildren, Joan Graham, Amber Browning, Douglas Wilson, Ryan Tucker, Randall Stallings and Emily Stallings; great grandchildren, Murphy Browning, Addison Wilson, Wil Graham and Tristan Graham; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Stallings will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Douglas Wilson, Randall Stallings, Michael Graham, Steve Gladney, Lance Stallings and Ricky Stinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Men's Sunday School Class of Trion Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Stallings will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. Coffman Funeral Home, Petitt Chapel is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Hobart M. "Hobie" Stallings, Jr.
