Hugh Walter Jones

Mr. Hugh Walter Jones, age 92 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Jones was born May 3, 1924 in Atlanta, GA, Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 having served in the Pacific Theater with – Americal Div; Head Quarters Company; 3rd Batallion; 164th Infantry; S-2 Section. The Battles/Campaigns were in the Northern Solomons and Southern Philippines. Before retirement, he was employed with Triangle Refinery as a Line Technician. Mr. Jones attended North Summerville Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was preceded in death his first wife and the mother of his children, Colleen Bernice Hamrick Jones and by his second wife, Alice Ann Jones; brother, Fred Ray Jones and sister, Elizabeth Fouts. Mr. Jones is survived by his sons, Phillip Hugh (Cathi Lynn) Jones and Charles Patrick (Donna Lynn) Jones; step-son, Robert (Lanell) Ponder; his daughter, Susan Lynn (Michelle Bailey) Jones; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. At Mr. Jones request he was cremated and the family will plan a Memorial Service at a later date.
