Mr. Hughlon Eugene "Peter" Gunn, age 89 of Rossville, Georgia formerly of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Parkside Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Gunn was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on January 17, 1927, son of the late Hobson Hughlon Gunn and Florence Labert Coley Snider. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Radio Operator aboard the USS Toledo, during the Korean War. Mr. Gunn liked to write poetry, was a member of the old Hardee's Gang, was of the Baptist Faith, and had been employed in the Weave Room of Mt. Vernon Mills. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gunn was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Ayers and a grandson, Rocky Trammell. Mr. Gunn is survived by his wife, Ginny Gunn; son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jerri Gunn; daughter, Cindy Mason; sister, Linda Lowder; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Gunn will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday, November 25, 2016 from 6 until 8 P.M. A graveside service will be Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
