Mr. James "Al" Albert Sarver

Mr. James Albert “Al” Sarver, age 78, of Trion, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sarver was born in Roanoke, Virginia on September 16, 1942, son of the late Fred Sarver and Margie Brumfield Alley.  He was a member of the Old Way Baptist Church and was retired from the Sheet Metal Fabricator’s Union.  Mr. Sarver was a master gardener and was an avid sportsman.  He was a former state champion archer and had played softball with the Atlanta Fritos. Mr. Sarver loved to fish and enjoyed traveling.

Mr. Sarver is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte A. Sarver; sons and daughters-in-law, James “Jimmy” and Pamela Sarver of Clyo, GA, Michael and Trisha Sarver of Virginia Beach, VA; step-son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Trina Benson of Midland, Maryland; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Woody Belflower of Tunnel Hill; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Barry Shirey of Bremen, Crystal and Donald Elrod of Bremen, and Cathy and J.T. Holland of Hanover, PA; brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Joyce Sarver of Hampton, GA; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Sarver will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor David Thompson officiating . Interment will follow at 3:30 P.M. in the Forest Hill Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, GA with Rev. Charlie Bridges officiating.

Pallbearers will be Craig Shirey, Chris Elrod, Shane Shirey, Adam Sines, Adam Sines, Jr., Matt Monroe and Caleb Sarver.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jordan Belflower, Brooke Belflower and Morgan Belflower.

Mr. Sarver will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.

The family of Mr. Sarver, and the staff of Coffman Funeral Home, advise anyone that plans to attend the services, to please follow the CDC recommendations as it pertains to Social distancing and social gatherings. Facemasks are not required, but are recommended.
