Janice Naida Ann Mitchell

Ms. Janice Naida Ann Mitchell, age 78 of 51 Williams Street, Lyerly passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Rome. She was born June 7, 1934 in Cherokee County, Ala., daughter of the late Wallace Grady & Mildred Pearl Stowe Edge. She was a housewife and was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lee Roy Mitchell; parents; daughter: Latrica Ann Mitchell; son: Laru Roy Mitchell; 2 brothers: Donald & Larry Edge; grandson: Stephen Matthew Blalock. Survivors include 4 daughters & sons-in-law: Loretta Mitchell Reynolds, Lyerly; Lorraine Mitchell Smith, Lafayette; Lanada & Andy Payton, Centre, Al; Lisa & Marty Slayton, Cedar Bluff, Al.; brother: Wilburn Edge, Ft. Payne, AL; 10 grandchildren: Matthew, Angel & Alisha Spurlock; Josha Bryan; Shane & Sheena Reynolds; Hope & Heather Mitchell; MIchael & Jason Slayton. 5 great-grandchildren: Steven Logan, Mattie Blalock, Ethan Spurlock, Chiann Little & Hailey Durham. Graveside and interment services will be conducted Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. from Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Sanford Deberry & Rev. Robert Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Ms. Mitchell will lie-in-state at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 4:30 p.m. Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
