Mrs. Jaunita Romine Johnson Hogan

June 12, 1927 — December 28, 2015

Jaunita (Romine) Johnson Hogan, 88, of McDonough, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Dogwood Forest at Eagle's Landing Assisted Living. She was born June 12, 1927 in Cherokee County, Alabama on a family trip but has never lived outside the state of Georgia. She grew up in Chattooga County, married, had two children, and moved to Atlanta in 1951. After many years as a housewife she started working at DeKalb General Hospital as a switchboard operator in 1964 and retired after twenty years of service. Jaunita was an active member of Columbia Drive Baptist Church for more than twenty years. She enjoyed her faith and her family and was always there to offer housing and meals to anyone in the family that was in need. She enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook. She was gifted at sewing, crochet, quilting and most other needle crafts and she shared these freely with friends and family. In her later years she took up square dancing and enjoyed it greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert James Hogan who died June 9, 2015 and by her first husband Lyle Johnson, Jr., who died April 21, 1982. She enjoyed a 30 year marriage to each of these two men. She also lost her beloved son, Marris, who passed away on December 5, 2013. Heaven has reserved a special place for this lady who has given so much, mothered so many and loved so freely. She will be missed by all those who remain. Mrs. Hogan is survived by her son Harold Johnson and his wife, Davina, her daughter-in-law, Kay Johnson, her stepson Michael Hogan and two of her six siblings, Scharline Anderson and Wayne Romine. Jaunita also has five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hogan will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at the Cannon Cleveland Funeral Home in McDonough with Rev. Keith Fleming officiating. Interment will be Sunday, January 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery in Trion, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:30 A.M. until the funeral hour at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Home in McDonough. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Home along with the assistance of Coffman Funeral Home, Petitt Chapel is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Jaunita Romine Johnson Hogan.
