Mr. Johnny Jones, age 74 of Silver Circle, Summerville, GA passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Jones was born in Summerville, GA on July 15, 1936. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills with 43 years of service and was co-owner of Indian Pride Variety. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and singing at church. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Jones was a member and chairman of Deacons of the Harrell Street Church of God. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Jones; daughter, Velenia Kennett; father and mother, Charlie and Birdie Mantooth Jones; sisters, Lorene Taylor and Mary Petty; and brother, Buddy Jones. Survivors are wife, Pat Jones of Summerville, GA; daughter, Debra (Jessie) Crider of Rome, GA, sons, Johnny Franklin (Marlene) Jones of Dallas, GA and Sonny (Devin) Jones of Harlan, KY; daughter, Charene Jones of Rome, GA; step-daughter, Kimberly Vaughn of Summerville, GA; step-sons, Kevin Michael Vaughn of Ringgold, GA, Kristopher (Cassandra) Vaughn of Summerville, GA, Kippy (Melissa) Vaughn of Lyerly, GA; grandchildren, Amanda (David) Short, Shetta (Chris) Taylor, Tyron (Amber) Eaton, Kristi Niece, Josh Eaton, Austin (Whitney) Kennett, Gracie Sisk, Olivia Sisk, Jamie (Robin) Vaughn, Brian Stoker, Nicole Stoker (Devin Riddle), Kerrie Vaughn, Samantha Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, Tyler Vaughn, Taylor Vaughn, Kaylie Vaughn, Kristen Williams, Dakota Marks, and Gabe Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Aaron Kennett, Addison Kennett, Rosalee Kennett, Summer Vaughn, Brody Vaughn, Austin Jenkins, Evan Taylor, Jordon Eaton, Mason Eaton, and Bryson Stoker; a very special friend, Patsy Tinney; sisters, Frances Parm of Rome, GA; Mattie (Dexter) Brookshire of Dalton, GA; Rachel (James) Parm of Calhoun, GA; and Betty Jones of Dalton, GA; Helping Hands, Ronald Parm and J. R. Kellett. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Harrell Street Church of God with Rev. Denny Smith and Rev. Kenny Payne officiating. Interment will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Mr. Jones will lie-in-state Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m.
