Linda Nugent Benson

Linda Nugent Benson, age 81, of Summerville, GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The youngest of eight children, Linda grew up on a farm in Willacoochee, GA and attended Atkinson County High School where she played on the basketball team. After moving to Atlanta, she met and married her husband, Lamar Benson, and had a career with State Farm Insurance for over 30 years.

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Lamar Benson of Summerville, GA; sister, Mary F. “Cootie” Dennis of Lapine, AL; daughter, Lisa Benson (Jennifer Boyd), of Summerville, GA; son, Jody Benson (Marian Benson), of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, Nicholas and Hailey Benson, of Stone Mountain, GA; step-grandson, Tyler Guidot, of Lawrenceville, GA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins scattered across the southeast; and several close friends including her care-taker Stephanie and dialysis nurses Mel and Sandy.

Linda was known for her kindness, laugh, and love of animals, especially her poodles. She was a world traveler, a Star Wars fan, and a slot machine player gifted with superb luck who also enjoyed reading, game shows, sports, watching television, dining out, and the Georgia Bulldogs. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

There are no plans for a public memorial service at this time.
