Mrs. Mary Ann Cochran Whittle, age 71 of Lyerly, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Whittle was born in Trion, Georgia on October 5, 1948, daughter of Mary M. Sims Crane and the late William Howard Cochran. She was a member of the Life Purpose Worship Center and was retired from the financial aid department of Georgia Northwestern Technical College. She was an avid Alabama Football Fan, enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her grandkids. In addition to her father, Mrs. Whittle was preceded in death by her husband, Joel DeWayne Whittle, and a daughter, Mary M. Griggs.
Mrs. Whittle is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Anita Curtis, Donna Byers and Lisa and Michael Kirk; sons and daughter-in-law, David “Dabo” Griggs, Jr. and his wife, Pamela and J.D. Whittle; sister, Charlotte Carroll (John Woodruff); Mother and Step-father, Mary and Frank Crane; 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Whittle will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. in the Redemption Worship Center with Rev. LeBron Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christian Griggs, Tyler Barbee, Devin Curtis, Treavor Curtis, Isaiah Curtis, Corey Curtis, Nicholas Kay and Devan Byers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Shilling, Dakota Griggs and Dawson Griggs.
Mrs. Whittle will lie in state at the Redemption Worship Center on Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
