Mrs. Mizzie Cleghorn Brown

Mrs. Mizzie Cleghorn Brown, age 97, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, September 06, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Brown was born in Trion, Georgia on August 18, 1917, daughter of the late Oliver Dillard Maddux and Lula Bailey Maddux. She was a member of the East Trion Church of God and was employed as a seamstress for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Joe M. Cleghorn; second husband, Richard Alan Brown; daughter, Joyce Hill; sons, Jerry Cleghorn and James Cleghorn; step-son, Jack Brown; sisters, Margie Railey, Mattie Ruth Broyles, Grace Burck and Roberta Padgett; and brothers, Lawson Maddux and William Maddux. Mrs. Brown is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tina Cleghorn of Chatsworth; daughters and sons-in-law, Edna Edenfield of Summerville, Elsie and Dockie Earnest of Brinson, GA and Linda and Jerry Brumfield of Cumming, GA; stepchildren, Janet Scott, Sue Miscal, Debra Calloway, Frank Brown, Cliff Brown and David Brown; 17 grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the New Generation Christian Church with Rev. Danny Harkins and Rev. O.C. McCane officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brown’s grandsons and include: Tony Hill, Darryl Hill, Wayne Boggs, Joey Earnest, Brian Brumfield, Kevin Brumfield, Daniel Marvel and Jamie Cleghorn. Mrs. Brown will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 6 P.M. On Monday, Mrs. Brown will also lie in state at the New Generation Christian Church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
