Mrs. Muriel Ann Sweatman, age 80 of Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Sweatman was born in Long Island, New York on August 11, 1940, daughter of the late Vernon Toland and Alberta Clark Toland. She was long time member of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and was retired from the Triangle Hardware. Mrs. Sweatman loved to walk, read her Bible and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Lion’s Club, where she helped with the blind and low vision population; the VFW and Modern Woodsmen, having been awarded the Hometown Hero award. She never met a stranger and was always there to help or support someone in their time of need. She enjoyed attending Gospel Music and Country Music Concerts with her friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sweatman was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Robert “Sweat” Sweatman and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Grennel.
Mrs. Sweatman is survived by her daughters, Hope Sweatman-Welch and Dawn Sweatman Clark and her husband, Gregory; sisters, Gloria Jean Agius and Sandra Jenson; grandchildren, Tristan McCall Welch, Hunter Steven Clark, and Shaina Hope Colleps; her favorite “grandchild and fur baby”, Maggie (Rag-a-muffin); and numerous friends and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sweatman will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Romine and the Honorable Jon Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Martin Sweatman, Dean Sweatman, Kirk Farrar, Marty Floyd, Grant Montgomery and David Lloyd. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tracy Wesson.
Mrs. Sweatman will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
The family of Mrs. Sweatman asks that anyone attending the services, to please follow the CDC guidelines as it pertains to social distancing and social gatherings, and to please wear a facemask.
