Mrs. Peggy Dawn Helms

Mrs. Peggy Dawn Helms, age 77 of the Ridgeway Community, Trion, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at her residence following a brief illness.

Mrs. Helms was born in Summerville, Georgia on November 16, 1943, daughter of the late Ira Mastin Henderson, II and Lena Ruth Franklin Henderson.  She was a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church, where she was active in many church activities.  Mrs. Helms was retired from the Spinning Room at Mt. Vernon Mills, after which she spent her time looking after and caring for others.  She enjoyed landscaping, gardening and antique shopping, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her husband, James William “Buddy” Helms.

Mrs. Helms is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Helms and Marc Hogg; son, Danny Helms; sister, Alice Ruth Green, widow of Charles Green; brother and sister-in-law, Ikie and Mary Henderson; grandchildren, Colby(Callie) Helms, Courtney(Ben) Drummond, Spencer(Taylor) Hogg, Haley Saylor and Brayden Helms-Hogg; great grandchildren, Branson Hogg, Trip Drummond and Rowen Drummond; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Helms will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with Pastor Vernon Johnson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Colby Helms, Spencer Hogg,  Michael Helms, Chris McGraw, Ronnie Helms and Gary Witt. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Helms, Jeff Helms, Steve Helms, and Terry Cargle.

Visitation for the family will be held privately.
