Mr. Raybon Hubert Williams

April 28, 1941 — March 17, 2018

Mr. Raybon H. Williams, age 76 of Lafayette, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his second home in Gaylesville, Alabama following an extended illness. Mr. Williams was born in Lafayette, Georgia on April 28, 1941, only son of the late Hubert Williams and Bernice Shields Williams. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was employed with the Dow-Reichhold Chemical Company, retiring after 35 years of service. Mr. Williams served on the Walker County and Lafayette High School Vocational Committee for 20 years, was captain of the Walker County Volunteer Fire Department; was a 10 gallon blood donor and enjoyed hunting, gardening and stock car races. In 1991, he received the Medal of Valor from the Walker County Fire Department for his efforts in extinguishing a rail car fire. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Lynn Williams. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Peggy Snow Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Gil and Kelley Williams;  daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Troy Allen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Russell Floyd, Elsie and Fred Hall, and Denise and Johnny Henderson; grandchildren, Lorinda Adams, Megan Tindale, Finn Allen, Marisa Williams and Conner MacLeod; great grandchildren, Drake Tindale, Talia Tindale, Kerowyn Ferguson and Evelyn Nicosia; special caretakers, Nova Padgett, Megan Rome and Randi Green, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Williams will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Mitchell, Rev. David Autry and Farrell Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lamar Hall, Jason Hall, Ashley Snow, Clayton Snow, Tom Snow, Conner MacLeod, Chris Snow and Chris Sullins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Littlejohn, Austin Moore, Larry Johnson, Len Chumbler, Dudley Strippling, Chief Randy Camp, Sheriff Steve Wilson, Chad Maples, John Boyden and Wayne Caldwell. Mr. Williams will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
