Raymond "Jr" Kennett

September 22, 1951 — December 11, 2020

Mr. Raymond Junior “J.R.” Kennett, age 69 of Summerville, Georgia passed away suddenly Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Kennett was born in Wildwood, Georgia on September 22, 1951, son of the late Raymond Ellis Kennett and Elizabeth Evergreen Butler Kennett.  He was a member of the Harrell Street Church of God where he served as the Chairman of Deacons, and was employed as a custodian with Trion City Schools.  Mr. Kennett enjoyed life and never met a stranger.  He loved spending time with his family, his church family and spending time in the Smoky Mountains.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Kennett was preceded in death by two sons, Waymon Kennett and Durando Kennett.

Mr. Kennett is survived by his wife, Janet Kennett; daughters and son-in-law, Christy Kennett, Ashley and Tim Carnes, Amanda Long and Makayla Long; sons, Curtis Long, Lance Thornsburg and Jamie Massengill; sisters and brother-in-law, Pat and Michael Redwine and Judy Roberts; brother, Paul Kennett; his fur babies, Sammie and Destiny; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Kennett will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Harrell Street Church of God with Pastor Rockland Hughes and Rev. Michael Redwine officiating.

Pallbearers will be Lance Thornsburg, Jamie Massengill, Austin Kennett, Justin Blackmon, Danny Hester and Fred Burke.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff and Students of Trion City Schools.

Mr. Kennett will lie in state at the Harrell Street Church of God where the family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Navigators, 3 Central Plaza, #415, Rome, GA  30161.
