Samuel Campbell Blackmon

Mr. Samuel Campbell Blackmon, age 65 of Rome, formerly of Trion, passed away July 6, 2017 at a Rome Healthcare center. Mr. Blackmon was born in Trion, GA on September 16, 1951, son of Mary Lena Campbell Blackmon and the late Robert Foy Blackmon. He was a member of the East Trion Church of God. He loved to play horseshoes, fish, hunt and even formed a band with Mike Flippo called the Fire Weed Band. In addition to his father, Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Blackmon and a sister, Linda Blackmon Stoner. Mr. Blackmon is survived by his son, Samuel Jacob Blackmon; mother, Mary Blackmon; sister, Joan Blackmon; special friends and extended family members, Mike Flippo, Johnny Green, Mike Jones, Jerry and Melissa Deering, Melissa Cook, Jody Stoner, Tommy Stoner and Zetta Stoner. Funeral Services for Mr. Blackmon will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 4:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jody Stoner, Tommy Stoner, Richard Blackmon, Tony Blackmon, Mike Jones and Allen Barnes. Mr. Blackmon will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
