Shirley Ann Petitt

Mrs. Shirley Ann Hurley Petitt, age 75 of Highway 27 Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Petitt was born August 29, 1936 in Summerville, GA.  She was employed for 34 years with the Chattooga County School System and was  a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Petitt was preceded in death by husband, J. W. "Bob" Petitt, father and mother, Austin and Nora Mitchell Hurley; brothers and sisters-in-law, J. C. and Doris Hurley and Ernest "Lard" and Dot Hurley. Mrs. Petitt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Jimmy Lenderman of Summerville, Ga; and son and fiance, Chris Petitt and Melodye Shaver of Summerville, GA;  7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. from the Pennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Interment will be in the Perennial Springs Cemetery. Summerville, GA. Mrs. Petitt will be in state at the funeral home on Thursday, September 22, 2011 where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Scott Parris, Danny Overbay, Dewayne Thompson, Tim Hurley, Mike Hurley, Ricky Higgins, Dana Petitt, Will Dooley, Tim Dooley, and Jim Petitt.
