Sue Mccauley Bridges

Mrs. Sue McCauley Bridges, age 84 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Bridges was born in Trion, Georgia on September 3, 1940, daughter of the late William Henry McCauley and Jewell Ruth Loggins McCauley.  She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Close Harmony A Cappella Singing Group.  Mrs. Bridges was a 1958 graduate of the Trion High School, where she was on the cheerleading squad throughout her high school career, including 1957, when the football team won the state championship.  She worked in the Sample Department Office at Bigelow-Sanford, and was later a crew leader for Mohawk Industries, and was the owner and operator of Suzy Q’s children’s store.  She enjoyed spending time at her store, always looking out for things that her customers would want.  Along with her parents, Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Don Bridges; sisters, Johnnie McCauley Hayes, Glay Nell Luke and Ruth Ellen Bryant; and a brother, William Henry McCauley, Jr.

Mrs. Bridges is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Kevin Hayes; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Pam Bridges; grandchildren, Haydn Hayes, Jenny Bridges, Holden Hayes, Brynna Bridges and Chantry Bridges; great grandchildren, Jaydn Hayes, Harper Hayes, Ryland Hayes and Bridget Hayes; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bridges will be held Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze and Mr. Ben Bridges officiating.  Interment will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Haydn Hayes, Holden Hayes, Chantry Bridges, Joseph Frady, Jaydn Hayes, Wilson Bridges and Henry Bridges.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Peggy Baldwin, Peggy Mitchell, Lola Bowers, Elizabeth Hall, Beth Wilson, Tammy Bennett, Susan Reece, Members of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, Pennville Church of Christ, Members of the Close Harmony A Cappella Singing Group and the Trion High School Class of 1958.

The family of Mrs. Bridges will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour at the Coffman Funeral Home.
