Thomas Isaiah Smith, age 17 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at the T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger following an extended illness.
Isaiah was born in Rome, Georgia on February 8, 2001, and was a 10th grader at Chattooga High School. Isaiah loved God, adored his mother, loved playing video games and roller skating. He was preceded in death by a grandparents, Donald Wayne and Martha Smith; great grandparents, Jesse “Coon” and Lucille Smith; and great great grandparents, Rounder Henderson Hall and Marie Sumner.
Isaiah is survived by his mother, Litha Smith; grandparents, Brenda and James Sumner; great grandmother, Ruby Hall; Aunts, Lisa Sumner, Cindy Mitchell, Patricia Collins and Shawna Smith; Uncles, Eddie Smith and Eddie Cook; Jimbo Sumner; great aunts, Betty Croy, Elizabeth Jones, Charlotte and Gene Wallace and Jessie and George Willingham; great uncles, Trigger Maton, Arnold and Connie Willingham, Dennis Ledford, Dan Smith, Robert Porter and John Crowe; Special God mother, Kaye Thompson, God father, Johnny T. Thompson; 2 nd Godparents, Sally and Ronnie Hall; aunt and uncle, Leslie and Michelle Hall; special aunts, Josephine Chira, Jacqueline Kay Bates, Hattie Mae Evans, Dale Low, Rachel Kilgore, Cindy Ledford and Mary Kirby; special cousins, Tori Smith, Hannah Culley, Alex Powell, Joshua Bates, Christopher Anthony Hall, Destiny Hall and Sharon Collins; best friend and adopted aunt, Ame Green; best friends, Jordan Kirk and Ryan Rowland; girlfriend, Lacey Thomas; very special friends and #1 nurses, Mandy McElroy and Ila Marie and a number of additional aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services for Isaiah will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Jennings, Rev. R.D. Craig and Mrs. Lois Orr officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jacqueline Kay Bates, Tammy Noles, Tammy Gentry, Hattie Mae Evans, JoAnn Thorson, Regina Daley, Michelle Hall and Lynette Chandler Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be the AFLAC Medical Team of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; Kangaroo Kids Hospice and Special Care Team, the Medical team of T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, and members of the Chattooga County School System
Isaiah will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., and Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. At other hours, the family may be contacted at 89 Preston Drive, Summerville.
