Mr. Tommy "Tom" Hughes Dooley

Mr. Tommy Hughes "Tom" Dooley, age 72, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Dooley was born in Summerville, Georgia on September 25, 1941, son of the late Willie Hughes Dooley and Essie Norton Dooley. He was a 1961 graduate of the Summerville High School where he was a member of the 1960 State Championship Football Team. Mr. Dooley was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being outdoors, working on his farm, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Dooley had attended the New Antioch Baptist Church and prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Summerville Gas Department. Mr. Dooley is survived by his wife, Peggy Martin Dooley; son, Rusty Dooley of Summerville; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Vergil Tudor of Lyerly; three grandchildren, Baylee Tudor Carpenter and her husband, Zack, Jessie Tudor and Abby Tudor; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Dooley will be held Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Rev. Kenneth Norton officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and should assemble at the Coffman Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 P.M.: Carl Dooley, Terry Wayne Dooley, Robert Norton, Jody Cochran, Marcell Yancey, Joe Reed, John Head and Kevin Scoggins. Honorary Pallbearers will be the 1959, 1960 and 1961 Summerville High School Football Teams, Special Friends: The Dry Valley Gang; The Jarrett Families, Tudor Family, The Bramlett Family and the WSN Gang, Trucktown, the Summerville Gas Department, Allen Cochran, Jackie Pierce, Farrell Allen, Joe Cox, Kelley Koonce, Lightning Lee, Randy Marshall, Ernie Ragland, Ronnie Dooley, Will Marks, Pete Denson and Randy Toles. Mr. Dooley will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the Family will receive friends Saturday evening after 6:00 P.M. Coffman Funeral Home-Petitt Chapel is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Tommy Hughes "Tom" Dooley.
