Mr. Virgel Stover, age 88 of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Stover was born in Canton, Georgia on August 12, 1933, son of the late Rev. A.W. Stover and Myrtle Garland Stover. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, was retired from the Drawing Room at Mt. Vernon Mills following 46 years of service, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed Gardening and working outdoors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stover was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Gilmer Stover; daughter, Amanda Ruth Stover; sisters, Betty Jane Culberson Burrows, Dean Petty and Linda VanFleet; and brothers, Aaron Stover and R.W. Stover.
Mr. Stover is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jeff Tarvin; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angela Stover; sisters, Allyne Fitzgibbons, Wanda McArthur and Joy Hoff; brothers, Edison Stover, Edward Stover and Sam Stover; grandchildren, Jordan Stover Amendola and her husband, John Amendola, IV and Emily Tarvin; great grandson, John Amendola, V; special friend, Pearl Wallace; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Stover will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Studdard and Pastor Danny Decker officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery, with Mr. Emory Gilmer serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Stover will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
