Mr. James Wade Fortner, 68, of Trion, Georgia, passed away on August 1, 2026, in a Rome hospital.

Born on February 20, 1958, in Trion Hospital, Wade was the beloved son of Nadine Henderson Fortner and the late R. Dural Fortner. A proud member of the 1976 graduating class of Chattooga High School, Wade pursued a career as an engineer.

Wade embraced life with style, enjoying the finer things, from driving sports cars to relaxing by the beach. He had a natural talent for landscaping and took pride in cultivating tropical plants. A fan of college football and tennis, Wade's greatest legacy lies in the cherished memories he created with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his life partner, James “Buddy” Floyd; his father, R. Dural Fortner; and grandparents Tommy and Eva Mae Henderson, along with Leon and Kate Fortner.

Wade is survived by his mother, Nadine Fortner; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Daryl Murdock; nieces, Jennifer Cox, Jessica (Adam) Ivey, Rachel Bryan; aunt and uncle, Linda Kay and Waymon Fincher; cousin, Michael David (Jennifer) Chastain; and many great-nephews, great-niece, additional family members, and friends.

In accordance with Wade’s wishes, he will be cremated, with no formal service planned at this time.

Wade will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
