William Calvin Davenport

William Calvin Davenport, age 86, of 415 Thomas Road, Trion, Ga. passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Oakview Nursing Home. He was born June 11, 1926 son of the late William Jervis & Sara Elizabeth Davenport. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Reigel Textile with 46 years of service, member of the Quarter Century Club and was a member of Lafayette Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelia Collette and a number of brothers and sisters. Calvin was one of the most loving, kindest gentlemen that ever lived and also he loved the Lord with all of his heart. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Russell Daveenport, Summerville; daughter & son-in-law: Trina & Jack Harvey, Flintstone, Ga.; grandson, Jody Collette, Trion; granddaughter, Kirby Miles, Flintstone; several nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Howell officiating and Rev. Jeremy Singletary giving the Eulogy. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are requested to meet at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Gene, Johnny & Randy Barrett, Jody Collette, Vester & Floyd Davenport. Honorary pallbearers are members of the "F" Hall Staff of Oakview Nursing Home and members of the Lafayette Church of God. Mr. Davenport will lie-in-state on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home has charge of the funeral services for Mr. William Calvin Davenport who passed away on Saturday.
