Janet Elaine Tanner

Mrs. Janet Elaine Tanner, age 71 of Trion, Georgia passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 8, 2023 in Ft. Payne, Alabama.

Mrs. Tanner was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 19, 1952 daughter of the late Leroy Dwight McCluggage and Esther Elizabeth Carlson McCluggage.  She was a member of the Pennville Community Church and was retired from Walmart, where she worked as a Customer Service Manager.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Duck” Tanner and a daughter, Joleane McCutchins.

Mrs. Tanner is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deneale and James Elrod; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Larry Cone; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Joan McCluggage; grandchildren, Jazmin Gray, Shelby McCutchins, Tia Davis, Shari Daniels, Tanner Elrod and Nathan Elrod; great grandchild, Jaxston Blanks; special friends, Conrad Trautner, Gina Trautner and Marty Trautner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Tanner will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Pennville Community Church with Pastor Jon Davis and Pastor April Millican officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Elrod, Nathan Elrod, Tufton Blanks, James Elrod, Taylor Sims and Jeremy Brown.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class of the Pennville Community Church.

Mrs. Tanner will lie in state at the Pennville Community Church where the family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Pennville Community Church Ladies’ Missions, 50 Green Hill Memory Gardens Road, Summerville, GA  30747.
