Mr. George Percival Covington

Mr. George Percival Covington, age 54 of Trion, Georgia passed away suddenly Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Covington was born in Summerville, Georgia on June 23, 1967, son of George Washington Covington and the late Dale L. Shropshire Covington.  He was employed in the maintenance department of Shaw Industries Plant 67 in Lafayette.  He was an avid hunter and fisher in his younger days and any type of carpentry and working with wood.  In addition to his mother, Mr. Covington was preceded in death by a sister, Felicia Covington and a brother, Sheldon Covington.

Mr. Covington is survived by his wife of over 17 years, Diane Covington; children, Ty Covington, Xander Covington, Julie Covington and Breanna Robinson; sisters, Cheryl Weems and Dawn Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Funeral Services for Mr. Covington will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister Brad Hayes officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dominic Weems, Darius Weems, Sheldon Covington, Tre Covington, Darius Careathers, Wayne Perry, Terrell Perry and Zarian Taylor.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Maintenance Crew at Shaw Plat 67.

Mr. Covington will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
