Mr. Jimmy Maddux Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Lynn Maddux, age 73 of the Waterville Community, Trion, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Maddux was born in Lafayette, Georgia on July 30, 1948, son of the late J.C. Maddux and Olene Russell Maddux.  He was a member of the Trion First Baptist Church, the Floyd Wildlife Association and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, where he retired as plant engineer.  Mr. Maddux was an avid hunter, having hunted all over the United States and New Zealand. He loved to fish, garden, and work in his yard, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He loved the Lord and will be missed by many family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Maddux was preceded in death by a son, Joseph LeWayne “Jody” Maddux; a brother, James Marcus “Waldo” Maddux and his canine companion, Sophie.

Mr. Maddux is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam Maddux; daughter and son-in-law, Kari Lynn Maddux Brown and her husband, Rusty; son, Tracy Maddux; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Gerry Lynn Maddux; grandchildren, Rayven Lawrence, Ryleigh Lawrence, Ransley Lawrence, Dusty (Kaitlin) Brown, Cody (Raegan) Brown, Sheree King and Destinee Drennan; great grandchildren, Breeland Brown, Briggs Brown, Keegan Brown and Mya McCutchins; special lifelong friend, Derry Martin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Maddux will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Casey Bramlett officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Anderson, Scott Coley, Randy Hall, Brent Martin, Derry Martin and Rusty Brown.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Retired Members of the Mt. Vernon PE&M Department, Othel Stone, Will Shields, Darrell Parker, Wayne Boyd, Don Henderson, Antonio Cappellazzo, David Fletcher, T.L. Hightower, Doug Wilson, Jackie McClung, Leonard Hogue, Tom Hall and Mike Rench.

Mr. Maddux will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

The Maddux family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Jimmy Lynn Maddux Memorial Fund for Special Interests at the United Community Bank.  Proceeds from this fund will help support his interests in the Trion High School Bass Team, Trion High School Athletics and the Austin Whitten Electric Track Chair Fund.
