Jamey Coffman
Owner & Funeral Director | Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia
Jamey Coffman is the owner and licensed Funeral Director of Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory in Summerville, Georgia, where he brings over 32 years of dedicated experience to families with compassion, professionalism, and care.
Born in Decatur and raised in metro Atlanta, Jamey later moved to Rome, Georgia, where he graduated from Model High School. He pursued higher education at Shorter College and Floyd College, ultimately graduating from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1996. While in school, he gained early experience at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. After graduation, he returned to Rome to become Assistant Manager at Daniel’s Funeral Home, followed by a tenure at Mason Funeral Home in Summerville.
In 2013, Jamey and his wife, Karen, purchased Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home and established Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory, where they proudly serve families across Chattooga County and surrounding areas. Jamey is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Georgia and is also a Certified Crematory Operator—ensuring the highest level of care, transparency, and respect in cremation services.
A dedicated family man, Jamey is married to the former Karen Chatmon of Adairsville, Georgia. Together they have two sons and two grandchildren. Faith and community are central to Jamey's life: he and Karen are active members of Dry Valley Baptist Church, and he is also involved in local civic organizations as a member of Alpine Lodge #211 F&AM, Yaarab Shrine Temple, and
the Chattooga Shrine Club.

Karen Coffman
Owner, Secretary and Treasurer
Karen Coffman was born in Rome, Georgia, and raised in nearby Adairsville. She attended Model Schools before continuing her education at Floyd College and Mercer University School of Pharmacy in Atlanta.
Karen has been married to Jamey Coffman for over 30 years, and together they have two sons and two grandchildren.
Professionally, Karen currently serves as a surgical counselor with Advent Cardiology. Prior to this role, she spent 27 years as a certified pharmacy technician at a local retail pharmacy, where she was known for treating her patients and customers like family.
Karen and her family are active members of Dry Valley Baptist Church, where she participates in the music and choir ministries. Her love for music is a central part of her life, and she considers serving as a pianist for the community to be a meaningful part of her ministry. When available, Karen also assists with funeral services and visitations.

Gene Martin
Funeral Director, Embalmer, and Certified Crematory Operator
Gene Martin is a lifelong resident of Chattooga County and a dedicated member of the Summerville community. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Information Technology from Western Governors University, as well as an Associate Degree in Funeral Service from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.
Since 2020, Gene has served families in their time of need. He began an advanced approach in serving families as a Funeral Director, Embalmer, and Certified Crematory Operator at Coffman Funeral Home in Summerville, Georgia, beginning in 2023. With compassion and a deep
commitment to service, he works closely with grieving families to help guide them through the funeral process with care and dignity.
Gene has been married to his wife, Becky Martin, for 32 years. Together, they share a close-knit family, including a lively granddaughter who brings them endless joy. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Gene values community, family, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those he serves.

Billy Bennett
Assistant Funeral Director and Licensed Insurance Agent
With over 23 years of dedicated service in the funeral industry, Billy Bennett has built a reputation for compassion and professionalism. As a licensed pre-need insurance agent and funeral assistant, Billy works tirelessly to help families plan for the future and navigate difficult times with care and respect.
A proud graduate of Chattooga High School, Billy has deep roots in the community. He is married to Kay Campbell, and together, they have raised two children and are blessed with two granddaughters. The Bennetts reside in Trion, Georgia, and are active members of Berryton Baptist Church.
Billy’s extensive experience, combined with his caring nature, allows him to provide families with the support they need during life’s most challenging moments. Whether assisting with pre-planning or providing hands-on support during services, Billy is committed to ensuring every family receives the thoughtful care and attention they deserve.

Peggy Sumner
Visitation Receptionist
Peggy Sumner is a lifelong resident of Chattooga County and currently lives in the Dry Valley Community. She is retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and has been a dedicated member of the funeral home staff for nearly 30 years.
Peggy is an active member of Dry Valley Baptist Church, where she serves as Sunday School Secretary and is a member of the Benevolence Committee. She assists with visitations and occasionally helps with funeral services, offering support and compassion to the families she serves.

Cyndi Yeakle
Office Manager
Originally from Atlanta and now residing in Cloudland Georgia, Cyndi serves as the Office Manager at Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory, where her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail support the day-to-day administrative operations of the funeral home.
Cyndi is responsible preparing necessary documentation, maintaining records, and ensuring that office procedures run smoothly and efficiently. Her reliability, precision, and behind-the-scenes dedication make her a valued part of the Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory team.

Rev. Dr. Brannon Martin
Funeral Assistant and Chaplain
Dr. Charles Brannon Martin, native of Trion, Georgia, is a dedicated student pastor and theological educator committed to serving others through faith, mentorship, and biblical teaching. With deep roots in his community and a heart for ministry, Brannon has devoted his life to guiding the next generation in their spiritual journey.
A proud graduate of Chattooga High School (Class of 2012), Brannon went on to pursue higher education with a focus on deepening his understanding of Scripture and leadership in ministry. In 2024, he earned his Doctorate of Education in Biblical Exposition from Andersonville Theological Seminary—an academic achievement that reflects both his scholarly commitment and pastoral calling.
Currently serving as Student Pastor at Dry Valley Baptist Church, Brannon is known for his caring and supportive approach to ministry. His dedication to discipleship, sound biblical teaching, and community involvement has made a lasting impact on the lives of the students and families he serves.
Grounded in faith and guided by compassion, Brannon Martin continues to live out his calling with integrity, wisdom, and unwavering devotion.

Barry Rollins
Barry is a native of Rome, Georgia, and a longtime resident of Trion. He is married to the former Jean Grogan. Barry supports our team on a part-time basis as his schedule allows.
